QUEZON CITY (PIA) -- The City Government of Taguig and its education stakeholders kicked off Brigada Eskwela in schools located at EMBO barangays which are now under its care.
Led by Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano, the Local Government of Taguig joined the officials from the Department of Education (DepEd), school principals, teachers, students, parents, and volunteers in the conduct of Oplan Brigada Eskwela (OBE).
Volunteers, including those from Taguig City Police Station, National Capital Region Police Office, Southern Police District, Bureau of Fire Protection, as well as representatives from various groups and organizations in the EMBO barangay, started OBE at the Makati Science High School.
Volunteers and staekholders actively participated in various tasks such as cleaning, repairing, and enhancing the schools’s facilities. Talks on Positive Discipline and Family Values, Drug Abuse Prevention & Control, Learners’ Rights, and Mental Health were also imparted as part of the program.
Mayor Cayetano commited the support of the local government to the schools in EMBO schools and announcedin the that prepared school kits for students are ready for distribution.
She also appealed to the General Parents Association officers and members for their patience and understanding as the transition takes place and pledged to join hands with school heads and officials to address urgent concerns from the teachers, students, and parents.
"Marubdob at masigasig akong makikipag-ugnayan sa mga opisyal ng Department of Education upang masiguro ko na sa pagbubukas ng school year iyong mga pangamba po ninyo, yung mga agam-agam po ninyo, yung mga katanungan po ninyo, unti unting masasagot, malilinawan, at matutugunan," she said.
The Brigada Eskwela 2023 with the theme, “Bayanihan para sa Matatag na Paaralan,” started on August 14, Monday and will continue until August 19, Friday to give schools time for cleanup and repair of classrooms before the opening of classes this school year 2023 to 2024. (PIA-NCR)
