DOLE-NCR assists TeleRadyo’s retrenched workers claim separation pay

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) --The Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) were able to provide assistance to some workers of ABS-CBN who were retrenched when the company ceased operations.

Through its Quezon City Field Office (QCFO), DOLE –NCR deployed its Quick Response Team (QRT) to assist in the payment of separation pay of some retrenched workers at ABS-CBN Corporation’s TeleRadyo Program operations.

The TeleRadyo, formerly airs DZMM programs, had to cease its operations on June 30 due to financial losses.

A total of 60 employees were retrenched, based on ABS-CBN’s establishment report submitted to DOLE-NCR QCFO.

Further, the media company said that those affected by the cessation were also given the opportunity to be placed or transferred to other positions or divisions within the company due to new operational requirement.

Among those employees, 35 affected workers were able to receive their separation pay on July 19 and July 28, 2023 at the Eugenio Lopez Jr. Building, Mother Ignacia St., Quezon City.

Company representatives said other affected workers are yet to receive their monetary claims on next scheduled dates in coordination with Timothy Joseph Isla, ABS-CBN’s Management Sector representative and Union President Generoso Villanueva, Jr.

QCFO Supervising Labor and Employment Officer Raymond Benjamin R. Perez provided technical assistance together with labor officers Hannah Jane T. Postrado, John Paolo Crisostomo, Jessa Vhie C. Brillantes, Loida S. Dacillo, Jehoverey D. Porciuncula, Assistant Labor Inspector Carlos G. Lagunsad, and SPES Coordinator Benjie M. Mantes.

Apart from payout, QCFO’s QRT conducted orientation and profiling of possible beneficiaries for DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) of which 16 out of 35 claimants signified their interest. (dole/pia-ncr)
