8K Egay victims in Ilocos Sur get rice assistance from Sen. Gatchalian, Valenzuela City

VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur (PIA) — Some 8,000 individuals affected by the onslaught of Typhoon Egay in Ilocos Sur will each receive five kilograms of rice, amounting to a total of P1 million, from the Office of Senator Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian and the City Government of Valenzuela.


The senator, along with City Councilor Nina Lopez and Councilor Ricarr Enriquez turned over the assistance on Friday afternoon, August 18 at the Provincial Farmers Livelihood Development Center in this city.


Rodrigo Llameg, the provincial social welfare and development officer, said that their office will repack the rice and include canned goods, noodles, and coffee, among others to distribute the assistance to the local government units in the province.

“Itong dala namin, hindi man kayang bigyan lahat pero punung-puno po ng pagmamahal at punong-puno po ng suporta,” the senator said.

He also mentioned, “Ito po ay pangdagdag sa mga tulong na ibinibigay sa mga kababayan dito sa Ilocos Sur at ang pangako po namin, itong tulong ay unang bahagi lang, ako ay magiging katuwang ninyo po sa mga proyekto sa Ilocos Sur.”


Senator Gatchalian also said that they are ready to provide support if the province needs additional assistance.

Moreover, Governor Jeremias Singson thanked the senator and the City Government of Valenzuela for visiting the province.


“Paki-abot po ang aming taos pusong pasasalamat sa City of Valenzuela at sa opisina mo Sir, kami po ay handa ring sumuporta sa lahat ng programa mo lalo na sa edukasyon,” said Governor Singson.


He added, “Salamat at napakinggan mo ang mga tunay na kailangan namin dito. Makatulong ka sana sa probinsya namin ngayong kami ay biktima ng typhoon Egay.” (JCR/AMB/ATV, PIA Ilocos Sur)
