DepEd kicks off Brigada Eskwela in La Union

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA) — The Department of Education - La Union Schools Division Office (DepEd-LUSDO) participated in the nationwide simultaneous launching of the 2023 Brigada Eskwela in this city on August 14.

Brigada Eskwela, which is anchored on the theme: “Bayanihan para sa MATATAG na Paaralan, Tara na Magbrigada na Tayo,” underscores the value of volunteerism and “bayanihan” and the promotion of community engagement, school preparedness, and shared responsibility in a conducive learning environment for the learners.

The six-day activity from August 14 to 19 highlights the collective efforts of school personnel to create a safe learning environment for the learners, teaching and non-teaching personnel, and the community.

Data from the DepEd showed it received P6,795,000 in financial assistance from the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) for 453 public schools, including integrated schools within the province.

In a message delivered during the opening program, Governor Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David remarked on the financial assistance provided by the provincial government to aid in the endeavor last year.

“I am happy to announce last year we were able to give 447 schools ng financial assistance for their Brigada Eskwela, so nadagdagan po this year,” Governor Ortega-David said.

“And of course the provincial government of La Union ay nagbigay ng support, this is from our hearts because we believe that education plays an important role for everybody, not just to our students but to all our stakeholders, and to everyone involved,” Governor Ortega-David added.

Meanwhile, La Union Schools Division Superintendent Jorge Reinante thanked the internal and external stakeholders of the schools for taking part in the meaningful opening of this year’s Brigada Eskwela.

“Inaalay din namin sa probinsya ng La Union ang aming dedikasyon na turuan ang ating mga mag-aaral. Dahil po dito, mas lalo po naming pagsisikapan,” the superintendent said. (JCR/AMB/KJCR, PIA La Union)
