PSA holds Integrated Processing of Maps training

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) -- The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Antique Provincial Statistical Office conducted their third level training on Integrated Processing of Maps from various activities to 30 newly-hired map processors recently.

Chief Statistical Specialist Randy Tacogdoy, in a press release, emphasized the important role of map processors to ensure higher quality and accuracy of the geospatial data.

Tacogdoy said that the Integrated Processing of Maps will eventually serve as input in the PSA’s future endeavors and intelligent visualization of statistical information using dynamic digitized maps.

The training is also in line with PSA’s continued efforts on leveraging geospatial information for various purposes specifically in its location-based operation such as survey, census, listing,

geotagging, and data collection for a community-based monitoring system for a more precise data interpretation and effective statistics visualization.

The 2023 Integrated Processing of Maps from Various Activities specifically intends to validate the digitized territorial and administrative boundaries coordinated with national government agencies, as well as validation of integrated geotagged building points from various activities, which will be eventually linked to its corresponding statistical data.

This validation activity will provide standard and comparable geospatial information for the use of PSA map-based operations, promoting a higher quality and accuracy of collected data.

Aside from applying the standard Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools, a streamlined process promoting higher quality and accuracy of the geospatial data will be employed to achieve the “One Goal, One Map, One PSA” vision of this activity.

Information Systems Analyst Joeven Rubinos discussed the Integrated Processing of Maps from Various Activities with Christine D. Domingo, designated Provincial Focal Person for Mapping, as facilitator. (AGP/PSM/PIA Antique with reports from PSA)
