Taguig City's scholarship program now includes students in EMBO barangays

QUEZON CITY (PIA) – The Local Government of Taguig now opens the Lifeline Assistance for Neighbors In-need (L.A.N.I) Scholarship Program to students from the city’s ten (10) new Enlisted Men’s Barrio (EMBO) barangays.

The LANI scholarship is a program that accepts all type of scholarships and is open to all regardless of year level, including those reviewing for licensure examinations, and taking post graduate studies.

Now that the city has ten (10) new barangays, it includes fourteen (14) public schools that has over 30,000 students.

In the LANI scholarship program, the Taguig lgu offers the following to:

  • High school graduates with or without honors can apply and receive P15,000 up to P50,000 per year.
  • Those who will be studying in premier colleges and universities, or will be taking priority courses as identified by DOST can receive P40,000 to P50,000 yearly.
  • Those who will pursue technical and vocational courses will receive P15,000 each year.
  • Those who are reviewing for the board and bar exams may receive a one-time assistance of P15,000 to P20,000 plus an additional P50,000 if land in the Top 10.
  • Public and private school teachers in Taguig, barangay, city and national government employees including uniformed personnel based in Taguig taking up their Masters' and Doctoral Degrees may avail of P18,000 to P60,000/year depending on the school category. There’s also a P50,000 Thesis and Dissertation Grant, thereby making their final year total a maximum of P110,000.

Taguig lgu recognizes the residency and registration in EMBO barangays as valid and sufficient part of the identification requirements for interested applicants.

Furthermore, affected students will receive school package consisting of a bag, daily and P.E. uniforms, socks, black and rubber shoes, and basic school supplies.

Daycare and Kindergarten students will also receive additional items such as emergency contact cards and hygiene kits. (PIA-NCR)
