MANILA, (PIA) -- More than 2,000 police officers will be deployed by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) as part of its security and deployment plan for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 to be held in the country starting from August 25 to September 10, 2023.
These 2,225 police officers will be assigned to strategic areas in Metro Manila to ensure the security of delegates and athletes.
According to NCRPO Director PBGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr. they organized the Site Task Group (STG) Metro Manila FBWC 2023 which is mainly in-charge of security operations and other public related safety services while holding one of the biggest basketball events in the world.
The NCRPO chief also assured that there will be no problem in the said event and that they will also contact the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Local Government Units (LGU's), other stakeholders and various government agencies.
Nartatez assured that with the cooperation of various government agencies and stakeholders, the said game will be successful and will give a good image to the country. (PIA-NCR)
