NCRPO to deploy over 2K personnel all set 2023 FIBA World Cup

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- The men and women of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) are all set for the much-awaited basketball event FIBA World Cup 2023 here in the Philippines from August 25 to September 10, 2023.

NCRPO chief Police Brigadier General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez, Jr said that a total of 2,225 police officers from the different areas in Metro Manila will ensure the security and protection of all the international and famous basketball athletes that will participate in the said world cup. Likewise, guarantee that there will be untoward incidents during the FIBA event.

As the host in providing the safety and security for the participants of FIBA, NCRPO ensures that we are prepared to cater to the needs of all the athletes, delegates, and all other foreign guests throughout the event and during their stay in our country,” said Nartatez.

The NCRPO team also met with Philippine Sports Commission, Local Government Units, other stakeholders, and government agencies to organize and ensure collaborated security preparation in maintaining peace and order as one of the host countries.

Together with other government agencies and stakeholders, we will be able to bring another success to our planning and management of security measures that would be implemented for future local and international major events in our country,” added Nartatez.

The 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup will be the 19th tournament of the FIBA Basketball World Cup for men’s national basketball teams.  The tournament will be the second to feature 32 teams and will be hosted by multiple nations for the first time in its history - the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia.
