Ilocos Norte accepts nomination for 10 outstanding teachers until Sept. 8

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte (PIA) – The search is on for 10 exemplary and outstanding teachers in Ilocos Norte as the provincial government partners anew with the Energy Development Corporation (EDC) Burgos Wind Power Corporation in the second installment of Bannuar Awards.


This service award aims to look for modern Ilokano heroism in the academe. It recognizes and rewards teachers from public and private schools for their “heroic deeds, exemplary works, innovative ideas, inventions, discoveries, superior accomplishments, commendable behavior, extraordinary acts in the public interest, and other personal efforts contributing to efficiency, economy, and improvement in government operations which lead to organizational productivity.”


In the form of nomination, these are the qualifications for the teachers to be eligible for the service award:


a.   Has a length of service of at least five consecutive years in the teaching profession;

b.   Has consistently performed high quality of work;

c.   Has exhibited a high degree of professionalism;

d.   Has a performance rating of at least Very Satisfactory in the last five performance rating periods prior to nomination;

e.   Has morality and integrity both in public and private life;

f.     Has not been suspended, charged, or found guilty of any administrative, criminal, or civil offense/case;

g.   Have completed their academic requirements for Master’s degree

According to Danny Daquioag, head of the Provincial Education Office of the provincial government, the screening committee will look into the instructional competence, innovation projects, research implementation, leadership potential, community linkages and involvement practices, and professional development of the nominees.


“We want to recognize teachers who serve above and beyond their call of duty, influencing their institutions and communities,” said Daquioag.


In the final evaluation, there will be seven awardee-teachers from the Schools Division of Ilocos Norte, two in the Schools Division of Laoag City, and one in Schools Division of Batac City.

The 10 outstanding teachers will receive P30,000 prize and Plaque of Recognition from EDC and gold medallion from the provincial government.


The deadline of submission of nominees will be on September 8 and  the awarding ceremony will be on October 27. (JCR/MJTAB, PIA Ilocos Norte)
