PRC’s  food trucks serve  hot meals to more than 21k Abrenians

BANGUED, Abra (PIA) -- More than 21,000 Abrenians were served with hot meals by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) through  its disaster response food trucks.


PRC-Abra Chapter Administrator Jen Bernal said that PRC’s food trucks  have been going  around  the different towns to provide free and freshly-cooked  meals for the affected families since the start of relief operations in the aftermath Super Typhoon  Egay.


 “More than 21 thousand individuals na ang nabigyan ng ating food truck ng  hot meals since nagsimula ang relief operations ng PRC dito sa Abra,” Bernal reported in an interview.


With the threat of Tropical Storm Goring, that PRC  has  stationed the food trucks here in the province to continuously deliver free meals for Abrenians, she informed.


“As of the moment, may dalawang Disaster Response Food Trucks ang  PRC dito sa Abra at nakahanda sila palagi considering ang paparating na naman na bagyo,” Bernal said.


Aside from providing hot meals, the PRC-Abra  in its relief operations for ‘Egay’ -affected individuals also distributed food and non-food items such as loaf bread, bottled water, hygiene kits, sleeping kits, sanitary pads, diapers, and clothes to affected Abrenians.


 The PRC also deployed a water tanker to affected barangays in Bangued to provide clean potable water for the residents. In Barangay Ubbog and Lipcan,  more than 24,000 liters of clean water were provided to  the residents.


 The PRC also continues  to hold child-friendly space activities in affected barangays to destress individuals especially children from the traumatic experiences after the floods. (JDP/CAGT – PIA CAR, Abra)
