Pag-IBIG Fund-Ilocos Norte still offering calamity loans

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte (PIA) – Ilocos Norte residents can still borrow up to 80% of their total regular savings in Pag-IBIG Fund through the Calamity Loan program until October 24, 2023.

The regular savings consist of monthly contributions, their employer’s contributions, and accumulated dividends earned by the member borrower.

This calamity loan program started on July 26 when the provincial government of Ilocos Norte declared the province under a state of calamity due to the damages of Super Typhoon Egay.

Pag-IBIG Fund members will qualify for the calamity loan when they have at least 24 monthly membership savings under the Pag-IBIG Regular Savings and have an active membership by having at least one monthly membership savings within the last six months before the date of the loan application.

“Pwedeng-pwede na magpa-reactivate ang mga inactive Pag-IBIG members for this loan, at kapag meron na silang 24 months contribution, pwede na sila mag-apply ng calamity loan. Kapag inactive members na mayroong 24 months prior, once they contribute kahit one month contribution lang for the activation ng kanilang membership, pwede na sila mag file for calamity loan,” Ilocos Norte branch head, Aileen Angelie Abelanes explained.

Meanwhile, for members with existing Pag-IBIG Housing Loan, Multi-Purpose Loan, and Calamity Loan, their accounts must not be in default.

Proof of income and a valid identification card of a member borrower are needed to be presented for the calamity loan application.

Qualified members can apply online through Virtual Pag-IBIG accounts and personally over the counter in the Pag-IBIG Fund Ilocos Norte branch located in the municipality of San Nicolas, which is open from Monday to Saturday.

When applying through the Virtual Pag-IBIG, the member borrower needs to upload their duly accomplished loan application form and complete the Pag-IBIG Calamity Loan application online form for members whose employers are enrolled under the Virtual Pag-IBIG for Employers.

The Pag-IBIG calamity loan has an interest rate of 5.95% per annum.

Members can pay their calamity loan within two or three years.

There is no limit as to how many members can apply in every household, as long as the member borrower is qualified with the requirements of the Pag-IBIG Fund. (JCR/AMB/EJFG, PIA Ilocos Norte)
