DavNor TechVoc Day made delightful for 320 job-seekers

DAVAO DEL NORTE (PIA) - - Some 320 jobseekers came for the  World Cafe’ of Opportunities recently conducted by the  Technical Education and Skills  Development Authority (TESDA) Davao del Norte to mark the 29th TESDA anniversary.

Held at the Tagum City Hall Atrium, the World Café of Opportunities carried the brand name of celebrating the 2023 National TechVoc Day that was mandated to be observed every  August 25 by Republic Act No. 10970 signed on February 7, 2018.

The event  in Davao del Norte generated the participation of eight local business establishments offering more than 230 job vacancies. A  total of six applicants were hired-on-the spot: two as branch secretaries, one sales clerk, and three customer service representatives.

One of the highlights of the event was the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA)  between the Philippines Halal Center and Aces Polytechnic College, Inc. on the Halal TVET Training Partnership.

It was attended by  Executive Assistant IV Ciara Isabelle Uy-Salazar of  the Office of the City Mayor of Tagum, who encouraged job applicants to stay focused, while emphasizing on the need to hone skills, and to be prepared to land a good job.

Guesting the Kapihan sa DavNor two days before the TechVoc Day, TESDA Provincial Director Jasmin Neri said job facilitation was the main featured service on the TechVoc Day, but she wanted the day to become “delightful” for the job-seekers  and for them to enjoy other services coming from partner  agencies.

Other services offered were skills demonstration on Photovoltaic Systems installation, health and social Services, free massage services, free haircut, candle-making training, feeding of arrocaldo,bentrepreneurship consultation, techvoc learner’s profiling and enrollment, provision of healthy beverages and snacks, releasing of the training support funds for scholarship programs.

In highlighting the TechVoc Day, TESDA Davao del Norte linked with the following partners: Office of the Governor of Davao del Norte and the Vice-Governor of Davao del Norte, Office of the City Mayor of Tagum, Philippine Information Agency, Department of Migrant Workers, Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Trade and Industry, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Public Employment and Education Service Office, Association of Technical Institute in North Davao, Inc., Provincial Training Center-Davao del Norte and City Training Center of the Island Garden City of Samal.   (JMDA/PIA Davao del Norte)
