DAVAO CITY (PIA) -- The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Region XI organized the World Café of Opportunities (WCO) where 1,203 registered applicants got the chance to apply from the 4,411 job vacancies offered during the one-stop shop job fair and job matching.

The WCO held at the Davao City Recreation Center in time for TESDA’s celebration of the National Tech-Voc Day and 29th founding anniversary on Aug. 25, 2023 gathered 35 local companies and nine overseas employers to present their job vacancies.

Some 58 applicants were hired on the spot as of morning during the one-day job fair and job matching, which was intended to provide employment opportunities for job seekers from Davao City, Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental, especially for Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) graduates.

“This event is not just a job fair but a testament to the dynamic synergy of government agencies, local government, and of course the private sectors,” stated TESDA-XI Assistant Regional Director Remegias G. Timonio in his message during the opening ceremony of the event.

Timonio said WCO is an informative platform which not only sets the stage for job fairs but also raises the flag of collaboration and empowerment.

The event was held in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XI, Public Employment Service Office, and the Local Government Units.

Davao City mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte also extends a message through City Councilor Bai Hundra Cassandra Dominique N. Advincula during the job fair.
