ILOILO CITY (PIA) -- The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) 6 announced recently that Iloilo Science and Technology University’s "ISAT U TEAM 1" bested all other teams during the HackForGov Regional Qualifying Round for Western Visayas Region last Aug. 18 at SEDA Hotel, Iloilo.
The ISAT U TEAM 1 became this year’s champion, followed by the University of San Agustin’s USA-CPE as First Runner Up and F1 ENIGMA of the PHINMA University of Iloilo as 2nd Runner Up.
Meanwhile, the Top Individual Scorer for the whole event is Kevin Joseph Hermonio of ISAT U TEAM 1.
HackForGov is a computer security exercise in which “flags” are secretly hidden in purposely-vulnerable programs or websites.
The HackForGov competition aims to increase the pace of developing cyber-proficient students and engage them to take a path in cybersecurity to increase the pool of cyber-proficient individuals, develop problem-solving skills required to identify and mitigate cybersecurity attacks by providing real-world examples thru the analysis of challenges, and identify qualified students as Philippine representatives for international capture-the-flag competitions.
A total of ten teams competed for this year’s qualifying rounds in Region 6.
ISAT U TEAM 1 will represent the region in the National HackForGov Finals in October this year. (AAL/PIA6/EJB)
