2023 RSTW focuses on innovation that brings sustainable, comfortable, secured future

QUEZON CITY (PIA) – The Department of Science and Technology - National Capital Region (DOST-NCR) hosts the 2023 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) on August 30 to September 7, at the heart of Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. This year’s event is being co-hosted by the City of Taguig, the official home of the DOST.

With the theme, “Siyensya, Teknolohiya at Inobasyon: Kabalikat sa Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na kinabukasan,” the three-day celebration aims to highlight the role of science, technology, and innovation in securing a resilient future.

During the opening ceremony, Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano, who was the guest of honor welcomed the attendees and guests from different local government units in NCR, including the Science major students and the DOST partner stakeholders.

She said the theme of this year’s RSTW mirrors the advocacies of Taguig to be a transformative, lively and caring city in order to achieve a brighter future for its constituents. She expressed hope that the event would be fruitful and would be beneficial for the city.

“I pray that the next three days be filled with insights that drive positive change for Taguig and beyond,” Mayor Cayetano said.

The event will feature a variety of activities, such as exhibits showcasing cutting-edge technologies and scientific innovations, hands-on interactive demonstrations, and a series of forums and panel discussions on current and future trends in science and technology.

Aside from these exciting events, the RSTW 2023 will also provide a platform for industry leaders, innovators, and policymakers to discuss and address the challenges and opportunities in the science and technology sector. Participants can expect fruitful dialogues on topics such as climate-related innovations, Market-Driven R&D and Technology Transfer, and achievements of renowned women scientists and professionals. 

The 2023 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week promises to be a dynamic platform for fostering collaborations and innovations in science and technology to create a more resilient and prosperous future for all. 

Also present during the opening ceremony are DOST Undersecretary for Regional Operations, Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang; DOST-NCR Regional Director Engr. Romelen T. Tresvalles; while DOST Secretary Renato Solidum Jr. gave a recorded message of support. (PIA-NCR)
