Coast Guard Southeastern Mindanao recognizes workforce, partner agencies

DAVAO CITY (PIA) - - The Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao has recognized its workforce and partner agencies for their remarkable achievements and contributions in ensuring the maritime security, and protecting the welfare and safety of the coastal communities.

The recognition was conferred during the district’s celebration of its 38th founding anniversary on August 25, 2023 at the Grand Regal Hotel, Davao City, where Philippine Coast Guard Chief of Staff, CG Commodore Joeven Fabul was guest of honor.

In his message during the celebration, Commander Coast Guard Commodore Rejard Marfe said, “Your commitment to upholding the highest standards of service and your unwavering dedication to the welfare and safety of our coastal communities are truly commendable.”

Along with CG Commo. Marfe, CG Commo. Fabul handed over the plaques of recognition to the awardees, starting with the citation on stations and sub-stations of the year and squadron of the year.

Coast Guard Station Davao was cited as Station of the Year “Class A,” while Coast Guard Station Island Garden City of Samal was Station of the Year “Class B,” and Coast Guard Station Davao de Oro was Station of the Year “Class C.”

The Sub-Station of the Year was Coast Guard Sub-Station Padada in Davao del Sur, while the Squadron of the Year was 802nd Squadron.

The coast guard also awarded a few of its workforce with recognitions, such as Non-Officer of the Year, Junior Officer of the Year, Non-Uniformed Personnel of the Year, Auxiliarist of the Year and Lighthouse Keeper of the Year.

“Today, as we gather to celebrate your achievements, let us also take a moment to express our gratitude to the families and loved ones who have supported and stood by our Coast Guard personnel. Behind every brave individual in uniform, there is a strong support system that enables them to carry out their duties with dedication and courage,” CG Commo. Marfe said.

Partner agencies from the national and local government offices were also commended with recognition, such as the Southern Philippines Medical Center, Land Bank of the Philippines, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, the Provincial Government of Davao de Oro, Davao Occidental, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, and Davao del Norte, and among others.

The Coast Guard also awarded partners from the private sector and civil society organizations.

Marfe has called on their partner agencies and stakeholders to continue to work hand in hand and foster collaboration and synergy.

“By doing so, we can further enhance our capabilities, strengthen our coastal defense, and ensure the safety and prosperity of our maritime nation,” he said.

On his part, Fabul said that the establishment and activation of the district has played an important role in the development and progress of the entire Davao region being known as one of the country’s insurgency free coast guard districts.

“As we reflect on the achievements of the past, we praise and commend the great men and women who have helped shape this district that we know today. We would also want to recognize and give credit to our partners from various government agencies, local government units, private sectors and academe for continuously supporting us ad who have truly been our allies,” he stressed.
