SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA) –The Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office 1 (DA-RFO 1) is calling for all farmers to enroll in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA).
According to Joseph James Flores, focal person, the RSBSA is an electronic database of the basic information of farmers which serves as a reference in the implementation of various programs of DA.
Flores said that RSBSA is not only used to profile farmers, but also, part of its components are the geo-referencing of farm lots and as the interventions monitoring system.
“The RSBSA is the basic requirement for the eligibility of farmers to apply and receive assistance and other interventions from DA,” Flores said in an interview on Thursday.
He added, “Makikita rin natin ano na nga ba ‘yong natanggap ni farmer na interventions mula kay DA.”
As of August 15, there are 366,010 RSBSA-registered farmers in the region.
Of these, 161,376 were noted in Pangasinan; 79,993 in Ilocos Sur; 66,709 in Ilocos Norte; and 57,932 in La Union.
Flores said that DA is targeting to register all 352,217 rice farmers; 146,954 corn farmers; and 144,982 rice and corn farmers.
Unregistered farmers may comply with requirements such as the duly filled out RSBSA form, latest 2x2 ID photo, photocopy of a government-issued ID, and ownership document of land that he/she is tilling.
Said requirements can be submitted to the City/Municipal Agriculturist Office or at the DA-RFO 1.
The RSBA registration requires the signatures of at least the barangay chairperson, city/municipal agriculturist officer, or the city/municipal agriculture chairperson.
Enrollment stubs as proof will be given to farmers who have completed the registration. (JCR/AMB/CGRC, PIA Region 1)
