CAMIGUIN (PIA)--Fostering better employment opportunities for the residents of Camiguin, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Camiguin Provincial Office marked its 29th anniversary with a celebration that showcased opportunities for technical-vocational skills, skills exhibitions, and a captivating skills competition, August 25, at the Camiguin School of Arts and Trades.
Unfolding the platform for skills and opportunities, the World Café of Opportunities (WCO) took center stage in TESDA Camiguin's anniversary celebration and served as a venue for those eager to acquire technical-vocational skills. It provided prospective students with a chance to explore a multitude of opportunities, ranging from various technical courses to vocational training that opens doors to diverse careers.
TESDA Camiguin Provincial Director Lonie Gonzaga reported that the event bore fruit in terms of job opportunities. Two individuals secured job offers on the spot, while five more were in close contention for employment. The job fair saw the participation of 12 companies, underscoring the event's success in bridging the gap between training and employment.
"Dako kaayo ni siya nga tabang for all the graduate of TESDA since ang gipangita man gyud karon sa labor market is labor, which is about sa mga gipang-offer sa TESDA--driving, housekeeping, food and beverages. So ang katong mga graduates didto pwede maka-employ diri, naa ta’y job fair, pwede sila ma-hire-on-the-spot [This is a great help for all the graduates of TESDA since what is really being sought in the labor market today is labor, and these are offered by TESDA—driving, housekeeping, food and beverages—so those graduates can be employed here, we have a job fair, they can be hired-on-the-spot]," said Lhizandro Mahino, a job seeker.
Moreover, the event shone a spotlight on the skills and talents of participants through a captivating display of outputs, where the fruits of their training were proudly exhibited. This showcase served as a testament to the transformative power of TESDA's programs in equipping individuals with practical skills and expertise.
Adding a touch of excitement to the anniversary festivities was a gripping skills competition that put participants' capabilities to the test. The competition not only highlighted the participants' prowess but also underscored TESDA's commitment to fostering excellence and competitiveness among its students.
The World Café of Opportunities embraced the theme of fostering meaningful conversations and exploring new horizons of possibilities. Karol Sanggomay Ranalan, vocational school administrator of Camiguin School of Arts and Trades, expressed enthusiasm for the event's collaborative spirit, stating, "We are thrilled to have each and every one of you today as we embark on a journey of discovery, collaboration, and opportunities."
Extending gratitude to TESDA Camiguin, Shella Babanto, a Sangguniang Panlalawigan member, acknowledged TESDA's dedication in providing skills, training, and employment opportunities, urging collective efforts to enhance the organization's mission for the betterment of the community.
