TARLAC CITY (PIA) -- Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), in partnership with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, conducted an on-site Balik Eskwela Diskwento Caravan and Kadiwa ng Pangulo in barangay San Roque, Tarlac City.
About 26 retailers; manufacturers; distributors; local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs); and farmers participated in the activity that benefitted about 8,000 consumers.
DTI OIC-Provincial Director Florencia Balilo said the on-site Balik Eskwela Diskwento Caravan and Kadiwa ng Pangulo aims to give access to school supplies, basic necessities, prime commodities, and fresh produce to consumers at discounted prices.
“We held the event in time for the opening of classes. It is one way of connecting the suppliers to the consumers for the latter to avail of the commodities at affordable and discounted prices,” Balilo said.
Simultaneously, a three-day in-store Diskwento Caravan was organized in various branches of school supplies stores in the whole province to reach more consumers.
Other consumer goods available include certified household appliances, gadgets, and various food and non-food products.
Diskwento Caravan is a regular program of the agency in partnership with the manufacturers and distributors of basic necessities and prime commodities for the purpose of providing reasonably-priced quality products to consumers as well as linking MSMEs to the market. (CLJD/GLSB-PIA 3)
