VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur (PIA) – A total of 713 government workers from the province of Ilocos Sur joined the nationwide online Zumba session on Friday, September 1, to kick off the month-long celebration of the 123rd Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) this year.

“Happy Anniversary sa lahat ng kapwa Lingkod Bayani nationwide at dito sa buong Ilocos Sur! Ang kasama natin sa online Zumba ay aabot sa 713 individuals mula sa various government agencies, local government units (LGU), and local water districts including state universities and colleges here in the province,” said Provincial Director Marina Cabañero of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) in Ilocos Sur.
According to her, the province recorded the highest delegation of the said event in the Ilocos Region.
“Our Online Zumba and Film Showing are parts of the celebration of the 123rd PCSA, in partnership with the Film Development Council of the Philippines, may registration fee tayo na P250.00. The proceeds from this event will go to the Pamanang Lingkod Bayani, which is a program that honors government workers who died in the line of duty through the provision of one-time financial assistance plus scholarship opportunities for their family members. After this, we’ll be opening the film showing for those who have received the links, you can just choose from among the selected Filipino movies and enjoy from September 1-30,” Cabañero said.


She then invited the public, especially the government workers and their family members, to support and join the upcoming activities for the month-long PCSA celebration.
On September 17, the LGU in Narvacan town will host the Plant-Run at the Bigbiga Protected Landscape in barangay Marozo.
Cabañero said the Plant-Run will be conducted simultaneously across the country in which Ilocos Sur and Pangasinan are the hosts in the Ilocos Region.
A family day and Thanksgiving mass will also be held at Pinsal Falls in Santa Maria town on September 22-23.
“In Ilocos Sur, we’ll also conduct an outreach program for the victims of the previous earthquake and typhoons,” she added.
More activities are lined up for this year’s PCSA celebration which she said will be further announced during the region-wide media forum on September 5. (JCR/AMB/JMCQ, PIA Ilocos Sur)
