SSS Davao Bajada branch holds Riders Day

DAVAO CITY (PIA) -- On the occasion of the Social Security System’s 66th founding anniversary, the SSS Davao Bajada branch initiated a Riders Day on  Sept. 1 aimed at enticing delivery and TNVS (Transport Network Vehicle Service) motorcycle riders to become SSS members.

“This activity was conceptualized by the Accounts Management Section. We thought of the Riders because we saw that during the pandemic this group was a great help to our communities especially in delivering serices like food and essential things. And during this time we saw that they forgot to give themselves personal protection that is why with our universal coverage we gave them importance during this day,” said SSS Davao Bajada Branch Manager Alnora Presbitero.

She said participants are expected to wear casual and comfortable attire during the first day and the day of the culmination.

Around 150 riders have pre-registered for the event which aims to give them easier access to becoming SSS members. Porridge meals, giveaways also await those riders who would come outside the SSS Davao Bajada grounds where a tent was setup for the riders who would want to avail of the services.

“Importante kaayo ang SSS sa amua, kay pirme mi sa kalsada ang amuang trabaho medyo delikado, dako kaayo tabang ning SSS sa amua riders kay kung unsay mahitabo sa amua naay makatabang sa amo (The SSS is very important to us because we are at the roads and our work is quite hazardous. SSS is a big help to us riders because whatever happens to us, someone can help us),” says delivery rider James Incierto who were one of those who registered at the tent.

Presbitero also said the event is a way of thanking the delivery riders for their services to the community. (RGA/PIA Davao City)
