Police strengthens security measures
Naga City (PIA) – Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office (CSPPO) Provincial Director PCol Julius Caesar Domingo in a press briefing on Tuesday, said that security efforts are in place to ensure peace and order in the province alongside the conduct of big events such as the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections on October 30, and the month-long activities of the Peñafrancia Festival 2023 in Naga City this September.
In a statement, Domingo asserted that COMELEC checkpoints are heightened but still in adherence to the rights of the motorists since authorities are only limited to virtual search.
As of Tuesday morning, the CSPPO reported only one violator of gun ban, and an individual has already been arrested.
Around 190 police personnel in the province whose relatives are vying for elective posts were also reassigned to other stations in order to isolate them from any political activities.
The CSPPO need to secure clearance from the provincial election supervisor from almost all districts in Camarines Sur to implement this move.

Further, Domingo clarified that no place in Camarines Sur has been declared ‘red area’ relative to the upcoming elections.
Law enforecement checkpoint operations are also being observed for the preparation of Peñafrancia festivities this month especially before the traslacion which will happen on Friday, September 8. The fluvial procession will be on September 16. Some containment rings were put around the city and about 150 additional police officers were augmented for police visibility on strategic streets.
Aside from that, Domingo said other provincial police offices from Camarines Norte and Sorsogon will aid more police officers to ensure maximum police presence.
“Police shall establish better rapport not only with the local or barangay leaders but also to different stakeholders and members of the community in order to create better police trust and police community relations,” Domingo said. (PIA 5/Camarines Sur)
