BAGUIO CITY (PIA) -- In continuing efforts  to maintain a reliable and updated membership database, the  Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) Baguio Branch recently  conducted the annual re-orientation for Agency Authorized Officers (AAOs) and Electronic Remittance File Handlers (ERFH) of local government units, national government agencies,  government owned and controlled corporations  and government financial institutions.

Pauline Antonette V. Paron, Membership Coordinator for Baguio, Bayombong, Tuguegarao  and  Laoag branches, said AAOs are the designated representatives  of government agencies who function as loan approver and as GSIS partner in the timely and prompt remittance  to GSIS. She discussed the  responsibilities of principal AAO  and alternate AAO.

The  ERF handlers, on the other hand,  are responsible for the timely and correct deduction of GSIS monthly contribution and loan payments from the members’ salaries as well as the timely and prompt remittance to GSIS.

Resource speakers from GSIS presented  the processes of approving  loans  and discussed the    the proper way of filing up the different forms  in  the  web-based Membership Service Profile for the  creation and updating of members’ records, and the electronic billing and collection system.

The forms  to be accomplished  for new members, re-employed and reinstated;  for transferees;  for salary adjustments; for  leave without pay and for termination,  and for changes or corrections in the personal data of members as well as the supporting documents required  were thoroughly explained.

Likewise, the downloading   of  Electronic Billing File of  remitting agencies and uploading  of the ERF  where it would be  validated for errors and accept payment of remittances.

In the open forum,  the AAOs  and ERFs raised issues which are often asked by members. One is  the continuous payment  of loan  amortization  by some members even during the  COVID-19 loan moratorium program in 2020. GSIS officials clarified that they have refunded  said payments thru the members’  UMID, but if there are members who have not received such or  payments are not credited, submit the names  of concerned members and  GSIS will check it.

The activity   conducted in two   batches was participated by 250 AAOs, and ERF handlers from Baguio, Bayombong, Tuguegarao and Laoag branches.

In appreciation of  the works the AAOs and ERFs are doing, the GSIS provides them non cash incentive  in the form of personal accident insurance, Paron said.
