CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) - -Police personnel from the different police stations and special units in Kalinga will undergo a two-day seminar on the “Bodong” (Peacepact) system and its relevance to conflict resolution and promotion of peace.
The activity set on September 7-8, 2023 is aimed to educate participants on the complementary role of the Bodong system to the peacekeeping functions of the police.
The ‘bodong’ which is rooted in Kalinga culture and society is not only used for solving conflicts but also forges friendships and promotes peaceful co-existence.
The seminar will include lectures on culture sensitivity, role of women and youth in peacebuilding, the Indigenous People's Rights law, iTabuk Pagta, and other culture and traditions of iKalingas.
Planned by the Provincial Advisory Group for Police Transformation and Development (PAGPTD) during its meeting on August 25at the Kalinga Police Provincial Office Multi-Purpose Hall, the activity will be funded by the Matagoan Bodong Consultative Council under the administration of Mayor Darwin Estrañero and chaired by Engr. Andres Ngao-i , also the PAGPTD chairperson.
In a related development, personnel of the 1st Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company conducted a Civil Disturbance Management Drill on August 30 at Camp Captain Juan M Duyan, this city, in preparation for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Elections 2023..
This aims to further strengthen the capacity of the police to respond to disorder, violence and other forms of chaotic situations. It also intensifies the police’s maintenance of maximum tolerance when engaged in mass protests. (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
