DAVAO CITY (PIA)--Various sectors from the Congressional Representatives, local chief executives and a power firm were honored durintg the 32nd anniversary of the Bureau of Fire Protection XI at the Apo View Hotel, Aug. 30.
This year’s celebration was anchored on the theme “Modernong Bumbero: Kaakibat Tungo sa Ligtas at Maunlad na Pamayanan."
Several local government officials were cited for their support to the BFP from providing various office equipment, donating of firetrucks, provision of land for fire substations, training of personnel, and improvement of the fire stations in their respective areas, consequently enabling the BFP to fulfill its mandate of protecting the people from fire incidents and the delivery of services to the people.
Recognized during the event were Representatives Paolo Duterte of Davao City’s First District and Allan Dujali of the Second District of Davao del Norte, Mayors Sebastian Duterte of Davao City,
Josef Fortich Cagas of Digos City, Jose Relampagos of Panabo City, Al David Uy of the Island City of Samal, Myrocel Balili of Nabunturan, Jay Jesus Dureza of Hagonoy, Barangay chair Nicholas Escabusa of Barangay Aguinaldo, Laak, Davao de Oro, Jericho Nograles of PBA Partylist, Sara Alipaopao, Giovanni Garbiento, Eugenio Derequito and the Davao Light and Power Company.
Mayor Ronie Sarande of Magsaysay town was also honored for his support to all programs and projects of the Magsaysay Fire Station while Barangay chair Jorem Agmit of Tacul was also cited for his initiative to acquire land for the site of the fire substation in Barangay Tacul. They both received plaques of appreciation for their respective initiatives.
The Davao City Fire District was the Best Fire District, OPFM Davao Oriental was the Best Provincial Office, Panabo City Fire Station was the Best City Fire Station. Magsaysay Fire Station, under Fire Marshal Inspector Rogelio Bucod Jr., was also cited as the Best Municipal Fire Station of the Year.
The awarding ceremony was attended by BFP XI regional director Senior Superintendent Richard Arbutante, BFP XI assistant regional director for administration Senior Superintendent Crossbie Gumuwang, and Civil Service Commission XI regional director Cyril Nathan SM Eamiguel. (JSGD/ Davao del Sur)
