DAGUPAN CITY (PIA) – As part of the celebration of the 66th anniversary of the Social Security System (SSS), the SSS Dagupan City branch joined the nation in observing Social Security Month with a series of activities.
With the theme: “Kontribusyong Pinag-ipunan, Proteksyong Maaasahan,” SSS Luzon Central I Communication Officer Joane Garimbao emphasized the importance of social security programs and services, noting that this year’s celebration strives to provide SSS members with a better future.
“Sa kasalukuyan po ay higit na pinagtutuunan ng pansin ng kasalukuyang administrasyon o ng SSS na mabigyan ng maayos na kinabukasan ang ating mga members. Aside from the benefits na makukuha ng mga members natin ay mayroon din tayong mga privileges at investment programs,” she said.
According to Garimbao, SSS Dagupan City celebrated its milestone by distributing free snacks and drinks to everyone who visited their office.
She added that along with the distribution, SSS Dagupan City inked a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with barangay Cablong in Sta. Barbara town to provide accessibility of SSS to their members.
“Ang MOA signing na iyon is like iyong existing program natin na KaSSSangga sa Coverage Program wherein ang mga barangay workers nila ay babayaran mismo ng kanilang head ng barangay ang mga contributions nila,” Garimbao said during the Pantongtongan Tayo virtual presser of PIA Pangasinan on Tuesday.
The SSS Dagupan City branch likewise conducted a Pensioner’s Day on September 8 at their office.
Further, SSS Dagupan City will hold a Market Drive on Saturday, September 9 at Calasiao Public Market in Calasiao town to bring SSS registration and membership closer to the market vendors and other residents.
Meanwhile, Garimbao said most SSS transactions are available online, advising the public to adopt the online processing of their benefits, contributions, privileges, investments, and other inquiries.
She also encouraged the public to avail of their digital services through the ‘E-Center sa Barangay’ program that brings SSS services closer to the grassroots, especially for those who reside from far place, for them to access various SSS digital platforms.
She also reminded employed members to check from time to time their SSS records through My.SSS account and to register online for those who are not yet registered at <www.sss.gov.ph> to ensure that their employer is complying and paying their contributions.
The social security programs have supported millions of Filipino workers since its establishment on September 1, 1957, through the Social Security Act of 1954. (JCR/AMB/JCDR/PIA Pangasinan)
