SSS issues 15-day extension to 12 delinquent employers in San Carlos City, offers program to pay delinquency

DAGUPAN CITY (PIA) – The Social Security System (SSS) issued a 15-day extension to a total of 12 delinquent employers in San Carlos City on Thursday to comply with Republic Act No. 11199 or the Social Security Act of 2018.

This was after the conduct of the second Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) program to remind them of their obligations as employers and the penalties they may face for violating the Social Security (SS) Law.

Winda Agustin, Branch Head I at SSS San Carlos City, said in a press conference that six of those they visited failed to register their employees with SSS while six failed to remit their employees’ contributions.

“Sa anim na non-remittance, ang amount of delinquency nila ay P2,621,491 at ang kanilang penalty ay P904,644.17 – a total amount of delinquency of P3,526,135.17,” Vilma Agapito, head of Luzon Central I Division, disclosed.

“Sa non-registration, malalaman pa lang kapag nag-register na sila kung ilang employees ang actual. Siyempre, doon din madi-determine ang amount and the penalties na na-incur nila,” Agapito added.

To avoid being penalized, the SSS RACE Team ordered the employers who received the written notice to coordinate with the SSS-San Carlos City Branch for appropriate and immediate compliance with the SS Law.

Likewise, SSS members are encouraged to monitor if their employers are remitting their contributions.

Meanwhile, Agapito called on employers who failed to remit the contributions of their employees to avail of the Contribution Penalty Condonation, Delinquency Management and Restructuring Program (CPCoDe MRP).

Under this program, SSS will help employers pay off their delinquencies by allowing them to pay unremitted contributions plus six percent annual interest while condoning their accrued penalties.

Interested employers may go to the nearest SSS branch office that has jurisdiction over their accounts to learn more about the requirements and how to apply for the CPCoDe MRP program.

“We hope na sana ay mag-comply ang mga employers for the benefit of all employees. Kami naman ay talagang ginagawa namin ang lahat ng aming makakaya para tuhugin lahat ng non-compliant employers,” Agapito said.

SSS RACE aims to instill awareness of employers’ obligations to their employees’ benefits in accordance with the SS Law. (JCR/AMB/JCDR/PIA Pangasinan)
