SOLANO, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - - The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the P60 million Bangar Flood Mitigation Project here to protect villagers from the threat of flooding.
DPWH First District Chief Engineer Marifel Andes said the project spans 520 linear meters and incorporates features such as rubble concrete with gabions and mattress scour protection.
She said dilapidated spur dikes have been replaced to enhance the overall effectiveness of the flood control system, bringing numerous benefits to the province and its inhabitants.
“By effectively managing and redirecting floodwaters, the project significantly reduces the risk of potential damage to properties, infrastructure, and crops in the area,” Andes said.
She said the completed project enhances the province's overall resilience against natural disasters with improved flood management capabilities where the community can withstand heavy rainfall and other adverse weather conditions, minimizing the disruptions caused by flooding.
“This not only safeguards the livelihood of residents but also promotes economic stability by protecting vital agricultural lands and ensuring the smooth operation of businesses,” Andes said. (MDCT/BME/PIA Nueva Vizcaya)
