MANILA, (PIA) -- Not only controversial and high profile cases should be solved and followed up by the Metro Manila police but also petty crimes.
This was emphasized by National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) chief PBGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr., as he tasked the chiefs of police (COPs) of the 17 Metro Manila LGUs, to make sure that petty crimes are solved in their jurisdiction which will be the basis of their responsibility.
"Even if it's a simple case, the COP will be responsible to me when I receive a complaint," warned Nartatez.
He said it is the responsibility of the police to solve complaints and crimes that are brought to their station, whether it is a small or big case.
He added that the police should not only focus on controversial or influential cases but also crimes such as snatching, holdup or physical injuries.
Nartatez said that the police should be able to give the public reassurance, which will be the way to restore trust in the police. He sees only two things as the reason why the police do not focus on petty crimes, "laziness" and "not knowing their job." (PIA-NCR)
