TARLAC CITY (PIA) -- Philippine National Police (PNP) will be deploying about 1,000 personnel to ensure an honest, orderly and peaceful 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections in the province of Tarlac.
These include personnel to convoy election paraphernalia, quick response team, special weapons and tactics, standby forces, and personnel in polling centers and checkpoints.
Deputy Provincial Director for Administration PLtCol. Romel Santos said PNP Tarlac has checkpoints all over the province since the election period started last August 28.
“Tarlac Police Provincial Office has about 944 personnel manning the 24-hour checkpoints in the municipalities and city to strengthen the implementation of the gun ban,” Santos said.
He encouraged firearms owners with expired licenses to surrender their guns while the process of renewing their license is ongoing.
Since the implementation of the gun ban, PNP Tarlac has already confiscated one shotgun while four firearms holders with expired licenses surrendered their guns through Oplan Katok. (CLJD/GLSB-PIA 3)
