GSIS calls on members anew to download touch mobile app

ILOILO CITY (PIA) - - The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) Iloilo is reiterating its call to members to download the agency’s Touch Mobile application for quick and convenient access to its programs and services.

“We are encouraging our members to install or download the GSIS Touch mobile application to their mobile phones so that they do not need to go anymore to our office or look for available GSIS wireless automated processing system (Gwaps) kiosk for their transactions,” said Glorietta Dublas, Manager of the GSIS Iloilo Branch, in an interview with the Philippine Information Agency - Iloilo.

She said the agency will be phasing out the kiosks and eventually, all the filing and monitoring of loan applications and in the future, the claims of active members and pensioners will be through the GSIS Touch app.

“Through this mobile app, right at their doorsteps they can now use their cell phones to apply as well as monitor their loan applications and access other services of GSIS,” said Dublas, adding that pensioners can also use the app for their Annual Pensioners’ Information Revalidation.

The agency, according to Dublas, is planning to come out with a new loan program that will only be available through the touch mobile app.

To register, Dublas advised active members and pensioners to update their mobile phones numbers as the one-time pin will be sent to their number registered with the agency’s database. Active members may update their phone numbers and also their other contact information in the GWAPS kiosks or through the help of the agency authorized officer. On the other hand, old-age pensioners may appear at the Loans and Eservices Unit of the agency for the said updating.

Latest data showed that GSIS Iloilo Branch is now serving almost 54,000 active members and 11,000 retiree and survivorship pensioners. Also, under the branch, are the extension offices in Aklan and Antique

Dublas further urged members to avail of the agency’s newest loan facility called Multi-Purpose Loan (MPL) Flex, an enhanced version of the previous MPL programs, which was launched on Sept. 9.

Among the enhanced features of the program are it is open to members with one-month contribution; with interest rates as low as 6 percent; and borrowers are given the option to choose the payment term which is extended up to 15 years.

Applications can be done through GWAPS kiosks, through the touch mobile app, over the counter filed personally in GSIS offices when the kiosk is offline or through any acceptable alternate mode of filing in case face-to-face interaction with a member is not allowed or is a risk to public health and safety.  (AAL/LAF/PIA6-Iloilo)
