MANILA, (PIA) — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., on Monday extended assistance to Morocco following a devastating earthquake that resulted in the loss of over 2,000 lives.
President Marcos expressed his condolences and solidarity with Morocco, stating that the Filipino people “are deeply saddened” by the tragic 6.8-magnitude earthquake.
"We stand in grief and solidarity with you, and our prayers go to the families affected by this tragedy," he said.
"The Philippines is ready to offer assistance and any support that may be needed for the swift recovery of your nation. We have faith in the strength and resilience of the Moroccan people to unite and rebuild in the face of such adversity,” he added.
Marcos assured Morocco of the Philippines' readiness to provide any necessary support for the swift recovery of the nation.
The Moroccan interior ministry has reported that the death toll has risen to 2,862, with an additional 2,562 people injured.
