Preps for Dinagyang 2024 ongoing

ILOILO CITY (PIA) -- With less than four months before 2024, preparations for the staging of Iloilo City’s grand Dinagyang Festival have started.

According to Iloilo Festivals Foundation Inc. (IFFI), the official date of the celebration of the city’s world-class festival runs from Jan. 12 to 28, 2024.

Initial meetings were held as early as June while consultations with various stakeholders will take place in the next months to get their inputs for further improvements of the festivity.

This also includes meeting with different tribes, the Ilonggo Artists Festivals Association, and food festival organizations.

“We also met with the Department of Education (DepEd) and school principals who have expressed their enthusiasm to make come-back participation to the festival. All of these are being finalized,” Clavecillas said.

Dinagyang 2024 celebration is anchored on the theme, “Pagdayaw kay Señor Sto. Nino, Padayaw sang mga Ilonggo!”

The theme sums up the unwavering faith and devotion of Ilonggos as well as showcasing their culture, talent, food, and the city’s scenic beauty, among others.

Meanwhile, the Iloilo provincial government and IFFI are finalizing the proposal of the provincial government’s hosting of the Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan 2024 to further promote Iloilo’s tourism slogan, “Fun, Foodie, Friendly Iloilo.”

To note, the Kasadyahan underscores the vibrant festivities in the towns of Iloilo province and other provinces in the region that will be participating.

“We are talking with Iloilo City with the possible (partnership). In principle, we agree that the Kasadyahan part of Dinagyang will pertain to Iloilo, the province of Iloilo,” Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. said in a separate press conference.

Kasadyahan is one of the major events of Dinagyang, scheduled on January 27, just a day before the highlight of Dagyang sa Barangay tribes contest.   (AAL/LMLE/PIA Iloilo/Iloilo City PIO/Iloilo Province)
