MANILA, (PIA) -- Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval expresses her utmost gratitude to the participants and attendees of the International Coastal Clean Up Day and mangrove planting event on Tuesday, September 12, at the Dampalit Mega Dike.
"This is a big step towards our desired Clean and Green Malabon. I urge everyone to continue to help and cooperate in preserving our nature for a better future for the next generation," Mayor Sandoval said in a post.
This remarkable event, organized by the local government, aimed to promote environmental cleanliness and protect the city's natural resources. The Dampalit Mega Dike is a flood control structure located in Malabon City. It is a 7.9-kilometer dike that runs from Barangay Dampalit in Malabon to Barangay Batasan in Navotas, along the coastline of Manila Bay.
During the event, a total of 521 garbage bags were collected, showcasing the dedication and commitment of the community to keeping Malabon clean. Additionally, 300 mangrove trees were planted, further enhancing the city's ecological resilience and contributing to a healthier environment.
