This meeting intends to converge ideas for irrigation development, and set plans and programs towards attaining the main agenda of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), which is assisting farmer-beneficiaries through irrigation projects nationwide.

Acting Administrator of NIA, engineer Eduardo Eddie G. Guillen, who served as the keynote speaker of the event, stressed the importance of IMO managers in delivering the agency's services to its farmer clientele.

"Hindi po pwedeng wala ako dito ngayon, kasi kumbaga kung sa giyera, kayo ang aking mga general (It is unfitting for me

not to be here, because just like in any war, you are like my generals),” he said, adding that IMO managers are the ones who know best since they are on the frontlines of farmer service.

For his part, engineer Jonel B. Borres, who is the new Acting Regional Manager of NIA Region 6, welcomed the guests in Iloilo City as the first host province for the IMAP.

Borres expressed his support for the undertakings of the association and congratulated the members who took part in the plenary sessions.

The sessions resulted in the formulation of plans and programs and the establishment of committees to upscale irrigation efforts and services in the country.

IMAP members further envision enhancing their knowledge by sharing their respective best irrigation practices in areas of project planning, project implementation, irrigation system operation and maintenance, and office management, which will be done annually.
