TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija (PIA) -- Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed the widening and improvement of a 9,561.000 square meters section of Daang Maharlika at barangay Baloc in Sto. Domingo, Nueva Ecija.
The project, which extended from KO139+000 to K0140+472 of the primary road, involved off-shoulder concreting and an asphalt overlay.
DPWH Nueva Ecija 1st OIC-District Engineer Osias Santos said the newly widened road network will bring significant improvements in road safety, reduce traffic congestion, and ensure smoother and safer travel experiences for all road users.
"The improvements directly benefit our community, especially the daily motorists and commuters who rely on this road. Moreover, situated at the entrance of the Science City of Muñoz, one of the busiest cities in the province, this project offers substantial benefits to a wide range of people," Santos stressed.
This section of Daang Maharlika serves as a vital artery, serving as the main thoroughfare to Central Luzon State University and facilitating access to various agencies including the Philippine Rice Research Institute and Philippine Carabao Center.
The project was funded by the 2023 General Appropriations Act at a cost of P22.5 million. (CLJD-PIA 3)
