Panpacific University launches SKILL, unveils WURI marker

DAGUPAN CITY (PIA) – The Panpacific University celebrated another milestone as it officially launched the School of Knowledge Innovation for Lifelong Learning (SKILL) and unveiled the World University Ranking for Innovation (WURI) marker on Saturday at the university’s Events Center and PCST Hall, respectively, in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan.

“Our newest school is intended to accommodate diverse individual needs such as upskilling and reskilling, employability, lifelong learning, more flexible learner-centered education, assets to completion of education and training, and student international movement team,” Dr. Rhonda Padilla, university president, said.

To carry out its goal of providing its students with a better education and environment, the said university forged strong partnerships with the University of the Philippines-Los Baños (UPLB) through a memorandum of understanding (MOU).

The MOU signing was attended by the UPLB chancellor, Dr. Jose Camacho Jr., with the presence of Panpacific University’s chief operating officer, Dr. Engelbert Pasag and the director for UPLB’s Office for Institutional Development in Higher Education, Dr. Greg Pawilen.

Based on the MOU, both universities will be actively engaged in exchange programs, research and extension, capacity-building programs, exchange of materials, and other related endeavors.

Following the launching event, Panpacific University unveiled the WURI marker as it was recognized as among the global top innovative universities around the world.

Dr. Padilla and Dr. Christine Ferrer, Director IV of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED)-Region 1, led the unveiling of the WURI marker.

“I am proud to tell you that Panpacific University was awarded 49th place in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and was ranked 201 - 300 among the World University Rankings for Innovation last May 18, 2023, in Florida, USA,” Padilla said.

“Having the internationalization marker is a testament to the excellence of higher education,” Ferrer said, adding that CHED-Region 1 will work with the universities to ensure quality education.

Further, the WURI marker is proof of Panpacific University’s dedication to pushing knowledge, driving innovation, and contributing to the betterment of society.

The Panpacific University family expressed their gratitude to individuals who joined them in the celebration of the historic occasion. (JCR/AMB/JCDR/PIA Pangasinan)
