Kalinga Cultural Center and Museum to rise soon

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) -- The province’s cultural center and museum will soon rise following the approval of the project  by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.

Governor  James S. Edduba ordered the creation of a technical working group to finalize requirements for the project during  the recent Provincial Culture and Arts Council meeting.

The Implementing Rules and Regulations of the proposed project has already been issued, he disclosed.

Provincial Tourism Officer Lorraine Ngao-i informed  that an initial fund of  P100 million  was  approved for the project under the General Appropriations Act  and set for implementation next year.

The proposed site of the facility is the space behind the Provincial Capitol building.

The facility   will serve as the institutional medium for the protection, preservation,   and promotion the province and its people’s  rich cultural, archaeological, social, historical and even religious heritage. It will  serve as  a research and study center for cultural literary works, music, dances, stories, historical accounts and artifacts.

Last May 2022, then President Rodrigo R. Duterte signed Republic Act 11770 or “An Act Establishing the Kalinga Cultural Center and Museum in the Province of Kalinga.” (JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
