LGU-Dipolog reminds public of sanitation, anti-smoking ordinances

DIPOLOG CITY, Sept 15 (PIA) - The local government unit of Dipolog recorded a total of 407 violations to the local ordinances No. 123, also known as the Sanitation Ordinance, and the Ordinance 196 or Anti-Smoking Ordinance for the whole month of August, this year.

The numbers were presented by the City Health Office, Sanitation Division in its accomplishment report submitted recently to the Office of the City Mayor.

Around 221 individuals were listed in violation of the Sanitation Ordinance, enabling the collection of about Php22,700 penalty fees, which was said to have already been settled by the transgressors.

Similarly, about 186 individuals violated the Anti-Smoking Ordinance, of which Php20,500 total penalty fees were already settled and collected by the City Government.

LGU-Dipolog noted a great number of the violators are not residents of the City, but visitors who made transactions here, being the Capital of Zamboanga del Norte province.

The City Government is now reiterating to the public, both residents and tourists or visitors who are planning to come to Dipolog, the strict implementation of the said ordinances to maintain the City's cleanliness and orderliness, and safeguard Dipolognons from the health threats of smoking cigarettes.
