DAVAO DE ORO (PIA) -- Monkayo town in the province of Davao de Oro is one of the venues and the only in Mindanao for the launching of Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) on September 23-24, 2023.
Other locations are Ilocos Norte and Camarines Sur in Luzon, and Leyte in Visayas.
Guesting in the Kapehan sa Dabaw in SM City Davao, lawyer Joy dela Cruz, the BPSF national secretariat, emphasized that Monkayo was chosen, as Representative Maricar Zamora of the 1st District of Davao de Oro, was one of those who pushed for the caravan to happen.
The first congressional district of the province covers the towns of Monkayo, Compostela, New Bataan, Maragusan, and Montevista.
Office of Representative Zamora chief of staff Prosperidad Reterba said that during the meeting of the National Secretariat, her principal accepted the challenge to be one of the hosts for the launch.
"Rep. Zamora readily accepted the challenge because she thinks we can do it in Davao de Oro," Reterba said.
For Davao de Oro, more than 40 national agencies and local government offices will provide at least 60 services.
More than 41,000 residents of Monkayo and neighboring towns have already pre-registered for the service fair.
Reterba said that walk-in clients will also be catered with the assistance of Tingog Partylist.
Around P100 million will also be released during the two-day event under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) of the Department of Labor and Employment, and Medical Assistance to Indigent Patients (MAIP) of the Department of Health.
The fair will also be highlighted with a concert featuring Brownman Revival, Gloc9, and local talents, and a grand fireworks display on the evening of September 23.
