MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--As more members and volunteers of resistance movements have followed the light of peace, the government of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) through the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) has expressed its deep administration to every militia combatant who has sincerely chosen to live in tranquility and marched back to the fold of law.
MPOS-BARMM Director General Lawyer Al-Rashid Balt underscored that they treat these surrenderees as their rescued friends to whom they saw the serious need to maintain peace and order for the sake of development.
Following the brave act of leaving behind their old and misleading way of living, he acclaimed the returnees, saying that this is a crucial step towards begetting success for their peace campaign.
“Sa mga friends rescued, nagpapasalamat kami sa pagpili niyo ng kapayapaan, at pagtanggap ng offer ng gobyerno na kayo ay magbalik-loob at piliing mamuhay nang mapayapa. Malaking bagay iyan sa ating komunidad, lalo na sa Bangsamoro government,” said Balt.
(To the friends rescued, we are thankful that you chose peace and accepted the government's offer that you return and decided to live peacefully. It is a big thing for the community, especially the Bangsamoro government.)
The MPOS stressed that the yield of the insurgents brought about positive impacts, specifically that the peace and security condition in the region has been challenged.
Balt emphasized that with security threats lurking around, the plan to emerge numerous developments would be at stake.
“Kailangan mangyari muna ang katahimikan at kapayapaan bago ang development or at least, mag-go parallel sila. Malaking pasasalamat namin sa kanila na piniling mamuhay nang mapayapa hindi lamang para sa kanilang sarili at pamilya kung hindi para sa buong komunidad,” he said.
(Tranquility and peace must happen first before the development or at least, they must go parallel. We are thankful for those who chose to live peacefully, not just for themselves and their families but also for the whole community). (CRG/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
