DTI, USAID train youths to become a successful business owner

ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) -- More than 25 out-of-school youth and young Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) successfully completed their training on Friday, equipping them with essential skills to become successful entrepreneurs.

The Youth Entrepreneurship Program - Be Your Own Boss (BYOB) is an initiative led by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Romblon State University, and the Local Government Unit of Odiongan.

Participating youth underwent comprehensive training that covered various aspects of entrepreneurship. They learned how to develop a business proposal, manage a cash book, and initiate a startup business based on their innovative ideas.

During the training, the young participants presented some of their proposed business ideas such as musical instrument store and studio, sweet potato chip factory, coffee shop, and an organic fertilizer factory.

The BYOB program aims to empower young individuals, including those with disabilities, by providing them with the knowledge and tools to become effective entrepreneurs.

The ‘YEP! You Can Be Your Own Boss’ program started in June 2023 after being adopted by the DTI from the USAID. (PJF/PIA MIMAROPA – Romblon)
