225 indigent learners receive essential school supplies

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – The Rotary Club of Tuguegarao Rainbow (RCTR) has created an atmosphere of hope and inspiration as they distributed essential school supplies to indigent pupils in selected public elementary schools in Cagayan province.

This year, the club identified Larion Alto Elementary School, Capatan Integrated School in Tuguegarao City, and Dodan Elementary Schools in Peñablanca, Cagayan.

Grades 1 to 3, with 75 indigent learners per school, received their school supplies such as notebooks, pencils, and art materials for a total of 225.

The club also donated paints, softbrooms and hardbrooms.

RCTR President Jun Chua said it has been a tradition of the club to support basic education and literacy since then, as one of the seven areas of focus of Rotary International.

“My heart goes out to these children because despite their difficulties, poverty does not prevent them from attending school and learn,” President Chua said.

“As we distributed the school supplies, the smile on every child's face was enough inspiration for us to continue working; sharing what the RCTR can bring,” Chua added.

Meanwhile, the three school heads expressed their gratitude to the club for sharing their time and putting their resources as one to bring smiles to these disadvantageous children. (MDCT/ADS/PIA Cagayan)
