DAVAO DEL NORTE (PIA) -- The Philippine Red Cross (PRC)-Davao del Norte Chapter bids to strengthen Red Cross 143 Program aimed at training more disaster volunteers at the grassroots levels.
PRC Davao del Norte Chapter administrator Teresita Machete, during her guesting in the recently held Sayron Ta! Pakigsayod radio program, said that they will widen the PRC Davao del Norte coverage of Red Cross 143 in the province.
“To be able to train volunteers in every barangay since we have 223 brgy all over the Davao del Norte so naningkmot mi na maka recruit mig isa ka leader plus 43 volunteers in every barangay na among i-train. Kami ang mo train ana paraunsay buhatan ug naay kalamidad (To train volunteers in ever barangay, 223 all over Davao del Norte, we are exerting effort to recruit a leader and 43 volunteers whom we can training. We will be the one train them),” she said.
In Red Cross 143, one community leader is recruited with 43 volunteers as frontline respondents in case of calamites and emergencies.
Machete revealed that PRC Davao del Norte had already done conducting the necessary trainings under the 143 Program to all barangays in the Island Garden City of Samal and in the municpalty o Talaingod.
PRC Davao del Norte is due to conduct PRC training sessions in Tagum City, she said.

PRC has coordinated with the Department of the Interior and Local Government Davao del Norte Provincial Office to tap more LGUs to bankroll the PRC 143 Program as this requires funding support for volunteers tapped to join the PRC 143. (JMDA/ PIA Davao del Norte)
