BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) – Some 287 Micro Rice Retailers (MRRs) in the province are set to receive financial assistance from the national government this week.
Rowena Mayangat, Officer-in-Charge of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), here said the 287 MRRs represent the second batch of rice retailers who received Economic Relief Subsidy (ERS) from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the DTI.
She said that the 287 MRRs will receive P15,000 each from the DSWD after they are validated by the DTI.
The continuing provision of ERS for rice retailers came last week to cushion the losses of the rice retailers with the implementation of the mandatory rice price ceiling in the country as contained in the Executive Order No. 39 of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.
With EO 39, regular milled rice is priced at P41 per kilo, while well milled rice is sold at P45 per kilo.
Last week, at least 88 MRRs received ERS after complying with EO 39 and being validated by the DTI.

The MRRs came from the towns of Aritao, Bagabag, Bambang, Diadi, Bayombong, Dupax del Norte, Dupax del Sur, Solano, and Villaverde.
For Novo Vizcayanos, inquiries on the rice cap and other matters connected to the EO 39 and related financial assistance may be directed to the PIA-Nueva Vizcaya through 09992218754. (BME/PIA NVizcaya)
