A decade of providing quality statistical services

The merger of four government agencies, namely, the National Statistics Office, National Statistical Coordination Board, Bureau of Agricultural Statistics, and Bureau of Labor and Employment Statistics on September 12, 2013 under Republic Act 10625 or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013 established the PSA.

It is the government's central statistical authority that collects, compiles, analyzes, and publishes statistical data on the country's economic, social demographic, and general affairs. It also enforces civil registration functions, an inclusive identification system, and a Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS).

Its anniversary this year is anchored on the theme "PSA@10: Providing Quality Services Through Digital Transformation" to highlight that it continuously enhances the digitalization of its processes to provide better service to the public.

"This proves that PSA also embraces innovations to provide better quality services, not just to deliver its functions but to serve the Philippines well through adopting the modern world," said Aves.

In its 10th year, PSA has successfully registered 80.54 million Filipinos in the PhilsSys Identification System. It has also increased its Civil Registry System (CRS) Outlets from 40 to 61. Moreover, it has commenced the 2022 Census on Agriculture and Fisheries using computer-assisted personal interviews and artificial intelligence.

"Rest assured that the PSA will continue to provide timely and quality statistics necessary for decision-making, as well as civil registration services and inclusive identification for equitable development towards an improved life for all," Aves added. (APB/PIA-10)
