CAMIGUIN (PIA)--In promoting research, development, and innovation (RDI) initiatives, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT)-10 has initiated a partnership with Camiguin Polytechnic State College (CPSC), September 26.
The meeting gathered key personnel, including the college president, vice president for academic affairs, and deans, to explore avenues for collaborative efforts in the realm of technology and innovation.
During the discussion, DICT-10 expressed its commitment to addressing CPSC's specific needs and enhancing the college's capabilities through research and innovation-based solutions.
James Kevin Sagocsoc, the research, development, and innovation focal person of DICT-10, shared insights about the objectives of the collaboration. "So ang mahitabo, we explored and we have shared the ideas sa among program nga pwede ma-implement diri sa school at the same time to enhance their RDI capability and capacity [So what will happen, we explored and we have shared the ideas of our program that can be implemented here in the school at the same time to enhance their RDI capability and capacity]," he said.
He further elaborated on the plans for the collaboration, saying that their plan is to implement these programs initially, and the other programs of DICT will follow.
"We believe nga if ma-implement namo tanang program sa DICT sa school, dako gyud ni’g changes sa ilang research capabilities [We believe that if we can implement all DICT programs in the school, it will really change their research capabilities]," Sagocsoc said.
The collaboration also aims to address gaps and challenges in regional socio-economic development by ensuring that research, innovations, and other science and technology-based projects are relevant, responsive, and aligned with the National Innovation Agenda and Strategy Document (NIASD), the Philippine and Regional Development Plans (P/RDP) 2023–2028, and other pertinent plans and programs.
Thus, the collaboration is intended to contribute to the attainment of an innovation-driven economy in Northern Mindanao.
Sagocsoc further added that they will push for the creation of a website to promote the use of knowledge management systems (digitalization) and implement ideation and mentorship trainings at CPSC. They are also targeting the participation of CPSC in the Philippine Startup Challenge.
DICT-10 will also engage with the local government units for additional support and possible fund assistance for research infrastructure, as well as create an ICT Council with the assistance of LGU Mambajao.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to fostering innovation and technology-driven solutions to propel Northern Mindanao forward in the ever-evolving digital landscape. (RTP/PIA-10/Camiguin)
