VIRAC, Catanduanes (PIA)- Twenty-eight entrepreneurs received sets of livelihood kits from Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Catanduanes under its ‘Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa Program’ (PPG) on September 14, 2023 at Virac Plaza Rizal.
PPG is a nationwide program that aims to augment the business needs of beneficiaries through provision of livelihood support, trainings, seminars, information materials and other relevant programs and services of DTI.
DTI Catanduanes Provincial Director Maria Belma Escueta and Business Development Division Head Daisy F. Tabirara delivered inspirational message and message of support to uplift the beneficiaries' entrepreneurial spirit and help them sustain their business operations amidst the different hurdles and challenges in their day-to-day operations.
The beneficiaries came from different municipalities and under different business sectors namely: Trading, Food Processing, Hilot Wellness and ICT. The cost of kits ranged from P8,500 - P13,000 each, depending on the type of business.
Prior to the turn-over, the participants attended an entrepreneurial development session led by Negosyo Center Business Counselor John Robert Velchez. During the program proper, the PPG Provincial Coordinator Geraldine Bagadiong discussed about the PPG program, its status of implementation, content of livelihood kits and other important reminders for the beneficiaries.
The pool of beneficiaries was from various sectors of society, comprising of youth, senior citizens and PWDs. All of these beneficiaries were asked to recite the PPG Pledge of Commitment to lock in their dedication as worthy custodians of the kits.
Escueta expressed gratitude to LGU Virac for their assistance for the successful conduct of the turnover. Other DTI staffs present during the session and Livelihood Kit distribution were NC-BC Janster Bonavente, NC-BC Jaymark Hensen Tresvalles, and Mr. Anthony Manlañgit. Also present were representatives from the media.
Meanwhile, DTI Catanduanes has started the profiling or listing of rice retailers in the province for the implementation of Executive Order 39 or the imposition of mandated price ceilings on rice.
Escueta disclosed that they aim to finish it as soon as possible with assistance of Department of Agriculture and CIDG-PNP. (EAB-PIA5/Catanduanes)
