“I hope subong compliant kamo sa aton nga price ceiling of P41 for the regular milled rice and P45 for the well milled rice. So, hopefully, pagkatapos sini compliant man gihapon kay masige si DTI sang monitoring sa inyo”, said Pollentes.

Pollentes thanked beneficiaries for supporting EO 39 issued by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. that sets the rice price ceiling. She said the President adopted the whole of government approach involving government agencies such as DTI, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Agriculture and Department of the Interior and Local Government to help and ensure that affected rice retailers will be provided with necessary assistance.

“Thank you gid sa tanan and I hope

She also advised beneficiaries to utilize the cash they received properly and use it for their business. Likewise, she invited them to visit the Negosyo Centers in their respective municipalities to avail of the entrepreneurship training to further boost their businesses.

Each of the 103 beneficiaries from the 14 municipalities of the second and third districts of Iloilo province received P15,000 subsidy provided under the Sustainable Livelihood Program – Economic Relief Subsidy of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

In a separate interview, DTI-Iloilo Officer-in-charge Dorita Chavez said a total of 316 beneficiaries in Iloilo province, mostly sari-sari store owners, who are compliant to EO 39 will get their one-time subsidy during the day, Sept. 28.

Aside from the Robinson’s Place, payouts were also conducted in identified venues in the municipalities of Estancia, Banate and Guimbal.

In Estancia town, 128 rice retailers and sellers benefited from the program coming from 11 municipalities in the province; in Banate, 49 received their cash aid from 7 municipalities; and in Guimbal, 38 got their subsidies also from the 7 municipalities in the first district.

Together with the DSWD 6 team, Chavez and her DTI team personally oversee the

distribution of the cash assistance in Guimbal town and in Robinson’s Place. She was joined by DSWD 6 director atty. Carmelo Nochete in both payout activities. (AAL/LAF/PIA Iloilo)
