PNP Chief to Valley Cops: Empower communities to stand for what is right

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) -- "Engage well with communities and empower them to stand for what is right in accordance with the rule of law," Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police General Benjamin C. Acorda, Jr. urged the valley cops during the 122nd Police Service Anniversary at the Police Regional Office 2 (PRO2), this city. 

He said people in the communities should not be afraid to give affidavits, testify in courts, and cooperate with the police during case investigations. 

"I envision having a community that is not afraid to speak up because they have the police officers who are ready to protect them, together with other uniformed peacemakers on the ground," he said as he addressed the police officers.

He also thanked the partner agencies of PNP 2 for the pursuit of peace and order in the communities. 

During his visit, he led the inauguration of the newly built administration building and a headquarters at the Regional Command worth P24 million, established through the assistance of the office of 3rd District Representative Joseph L. Lara.

"These facilities represent our thrust to provide our personnel the resources they need to excel in their duties. Let us make the most of these facilities and ensure that they will be instrumental in enhancing your capabilities and proficiency," he said.

He also distributed 21 patrol vehicles, two personal carriers, two light transport vehicles, and one truck, 52 bulletproof vests, 267 raincoats, 158 undershirts, 52 combat helmets, 32 units of medical kits, 50 basic assault rifles, and 50 9mm pistols to different police units.

Acorda also conferred recognitions to the outstanding commission, non-commissioned officers, and non-uniformed personnel of the PRO2. He also conferred recognition to outstanding police units in different categories. 

"I commend the exceptional men and women of PRO2 for their remarkable accomplishments. They have exemplified excellence in upholding our mandates. Their hard work in crime prevention, law enforcement, integrity enhancement, and community engagement is truly commendable," he stressed. 

The City Government of Ilagan was also recognized for its commendable support and assistance to Valley Cops' significant programs and activities. (OTB/PIA Region 2)
